Ask for another size or color
| Thai | Meaning | Audio |
|---|---|---|
| มีสีอื่นไหม | Do you have another color? | |
| มีไซซ์ใหญ่กว่านี้ไหม | Do you have a larger size? | |
| มีไซซ์เล็กกว่านี้ไหม | Do you have a smaller size? | |
| ขอลองได้ไหม | May I try it? |
Bargain only where it fits
ลดได้ไหม (lót dâai mái?) means “Can you reduce the price?” It may be normal at some open markets, but it is inappropriate at fixed-price shops, malls, convenience stores, or where prices are clearly marked as final.
Ask once, smile, and accept the answer. แพงไป (“too expensive”) can sound blunt without the right tone; a polite decline is often better.
Confirm payment
Numbers are your shopping superpower
Thai prices combine number words with บาท (bàat). Practise hearing tens and hundreds before visiting a market; relying only on the calculator display works until a seller answers verbally.
